Background: CEG Kpogan is located in Kpogan, Lambou, Togo. This is the first on a list of 8 communities in Togo that need new classroom facilities. This school was chosen first because this area currently has 900 children on a wait list to attend school. There are over 1000 out-of-school children in this small village area. The children currently meet outside in a classroom that the community has put together. The existing classroom is made of wooden thatched walls and an iron sheet roof, and it isn’t stable or safe. The teachers are currently meeting in a covered pavillion outside while waiting to teach. The need for safe, durable classroom space is high in this community, and the people are very motivated to help in any way they can.
