Background:
A public/private partnership, Ligbongo Public School serves primary and secondary students in the Debonhomme area of Kinshasa. Owned by the Lumiere Church, it has 10 classrooms for grades 1-12 and was in extremely poor condition with no reasonable desks, cardboard walls separating the classrooms, and unusable bathrooms. With over 800 students enrolled, this school has the capacity to register more kids, even doubling current enrollment. Members of the Lumiere Church have committed to maintaining the classrooms after renovation. Scroll through the photos below to see before, during, and after the renovations!
