One of our favorite things about working in Africa is getting to know the culture that makes each country unique. In many countries in Africa, women carry baskets on their heads as a method of transporting goods, laundry and even water!
When Coafrica director Marci Romney and her husband Matt visited Africa in April, they decided to give this popular technique a try…
After seeing the limited amount of skill Marci and Matt had at carrying the basket on their heads, Malawi project coordinator Goodwell’s mother graciously gifted the basket to Marci as a souvenir. We are consistently impressed with the women of Africa and their goodness (and the fact they can carry buckets of water on their heads)!
